Unexpected Adventure

Well now, one does not always encounter the unexpected trip. A couple of weeks ago, I got the opportunity to travel with my sister to Lexington, KY. Susanna, my sis, got selected to go to audition for the Southeastern Theater Conference (also called SETC). This is a huge deal, as she is only a Sophomore in college, and I'm so proud of her! Usually, one of my parents would have taken her, but since they're both working jobs now, they asked me to go... yay!

After about 7 hours on the road, we arrived at our hotel and fell into bed. The next morning, I dropped her off at the conference center. While she attended auditions, callbacks, and workshops, I went out exploring.... by myself. It may sound crazy to some of you, but I like to do things alone. I think I get the sense of adventure and spontaneity from my Dad, who also enjoys random exploration, and instilled the wanderlust in me. Never miss an opportunity, never back away from a life experience... you may not pass that way, or be given that opportunity again in this life. Thanks Dad....

I love History, so I took a tour of Ashland, the estate of Henry Clay:

I also have a fascination with the Amish and Quakers, so when I found out

there was a Shaker village outside of Lexington,

or course I had to go there....

The Tree of Life - symbol of the Shakers (ironically, the Shakers were

celibate, which might explain why the movement died out...)

So... at the end of the time, I had so much fun having an adventure with my sister, who I truly love and admire! I'm so glad that we had this time to spend with each other... just two girls, traveling down the road together. I'm thankful to have my sister, who is such a piece of my heart! I do not know what I would do without her love, encouragement, and support in my life!
