Remembering Roots

Warning: This post has lots of photos! I couldn't help myself!

So, now that you know, grab a cup of coffee and sit with me for a spell. Today,
I'm looking back at a place that is home to many sweet memories for me.

Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi

It all began in 1985 when my Dad moved our family to RTS to finish his pastoral degree.
I spent years 1-4 of my life here, and surprisingly, I remember quite a lot!

While it doesn't look like much, this apartment was filled with love of the Lord and love for each other.
Here I learned to walk and run, to talk and sing, to play and pray.
I spent my days with mommy and daddy laughing and learning.
It was just a wonderful world filled with growth.

Such a small space, coming back now makes me realize how huge it felt back then.

It's so funny how things change in our perspective as we grow.

On our recent trip to Jackson, I forced asked Will to take a detour so that I could
show he and Scoot my old toddling grounds. So very worth it!

Oh the many days that I remember running to this playground...

swinging with sweet small friends under the watchful eye of {usually} our moms.

I wanted you to swing here, little lady, so that I can someday tell
you that your mommy once swung here too.

When I was just your age...

When I was just your size...

Your Gigi and Papa would bring me here to swing, just as I brought you.
Many a day was spent swinging and playing, learning and loving in this small little world.

Gigi and I used to work here at the "Clothes Closet." I was Gigi's big helper. Mmmhmm, right.

Thank you, Lord, for these years of love and laughter.
Thank you for a Father and Mother who faithfully obeyed the
call that you placed on their lives, even when things felt strained.
Thank you for always consistently providing, even when years seemed lean.
Thank you for giving me parents who took the time during my little years
to show me what it meant to live each day placed in your hands.

I'm me because I knew you, RTS. Thanks for being a part of this lady's journey.
