The Golden Birthday

Today was Will's golden birthday. Yay! For those who don't know, the golden birthday is when you turn the year of the date of your birth. So today, Will turned 26 on the 26th of February. Hoorah!

Birthdays have always been a big deal in my family. Now, it's not because you accomplished anything on your birthday... you were just born, after all. No, it's because those who love you want to celebrate you... the rare, unique, special gift that came on the day that you entered into the world. I do love birthdays, and I think that it's a gift that I was born into a family that showed me their love in special ways every day of my life... but how especially special I felt on birthdays!

I am so thankful for my Will. The Lord could not have brought a more wonderful man into my life. He has such a light heart, always full of joy and courageous character. His steadfast and tender ways are a sure compliment to my often hectic and frazzled self. He is the butter to my bread, as some might say... ha. Anyway, today I'm thankful for almost three years with this man. A man who, I now can say with certainty, I cannot imagine life without.

Birthday Breakfast! For this I made a Breakfast Casserole out of crescents, diced ham, cheddar, eggs, and almond milk. Super easy, and
according to my Hubs, it was a hit!

Oh the Funfetti Cake.. a timeless favorite.

The fun formal birthday dinner is a tradition in the Agnew house, and now it shall be in the Stanford house as well! I love a homemade birthday dinner!

His favorite birthday present. The only thing he asked for at all!

A new Columbia bicycle! We are going to be sooo sporty now! Ha

Oh, I think he likes it!

A few more birthday spoils! of course my Mom got the Gold Brick Eggs
for the "golden birthday." We are so crazy!

My Mom's gift to Will: Spice Tea... a timeless classic in my Mom's family.
He so loves this tea! It truly soothes the soul on those wintry days. The recipe for this is:

Will's Favorite Spice Tea:

1 cup sugar
1 cup instant Nestea
1 package of lemonade
2 caps sugar-free tang
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Stir together and store this in a container. Add 2 tablespoons to
8 ounces of hot water and enjoy!

And finally, this sweet bouquet. Of course the sweet birthday boy brought these home for me on HIS BIRTHDAY. What a giver, I'm telling you! He is constantly serving others!

Enjoy your weekend,
Mary Frances

  3. Looks like you guys had a fabulous weekend! Happy (late) Birthday, Will! We had a good weekend around here, too. Congrats on the sewing project!!! Sewing is one of my absolute favorite hobbies.

I can hardly believe that snow is in the forecast for us again. I'm sooo ready for spring! We are about halfway through constructing our raised garden beds. Now, if only it would warm up! :) Melissa
