Hurdling

Lately, I feel like I've been a competitor in a hurdling competition. I don't even know if that's the way that you would say that. You know, the race with all of the awkward raised bars throughout that you have to gracefully leap over. Contestants make it look so easy. Well, it definitely would not be for this 9-month-pregnant woman...

Thankfully, I'm not talking actual, wooden hurdles. That would be utterly ridiculous. I'm talking about what our life has looked like for the past several weeks. Let me bring you up to date, friends and bloggy friends, because it may be a while before I venture to these parts again!

We closed on our new house on April 24, two weeks ago. Since that time, we have had the interior painted... hurdle, the kitchen tiled... hurdle, moved all of our things in (with the help of wonderful friends and family)... hurdle, and began the process of settling in. Now, we were only able to really move our stuff in this weekend... So, I've been a little frantic trying to get the girl(s) rooms ready. We also need to move Scoot into her "big girl" bed so that her sister can use the crib.

hurdle...

*side note: I can't believe that our new Little Miss will be here in two days!! We are so excited to meet you, sweet girl!!

I am currently nine months pregnant... hurdle... so I've been slow and awkward at unpacking, where of course I wish for zippy-ness. You know, you try to get things done, but then there are the swollen feet, nagging back pains and the constant urge to visit the ladies' room, and your husband gets on to you for doing too much... My wonderful Renaissance does his best to protect me, but there's just so... much... to... do...

hurdle...

This baby-delivery-go-around I'm having a c-section. Long story short, my last delivery was great, but my recovery was bad. My doctor recommended a c-section, so I'm moving forward in faith. It makes my thinking unclear as far as expectations, however, so I'm sort of flying blind about what life will look like after Thursday...

hurdle...

I know that we all have 'em. If I'm honest, I'm thankful for it. If this life were easy, do you think that I would really grasp how to truly appreciate it? Nope, I wouldn't. These current hurdles, and even the more simple ones that I face on a daily basis, will bring me back to the foot of the cross and point me to the grace and sufficiency of my Savior... if I remember to go there. May the Lord always remind me to "fix my eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith..." as it says in Hebrews 12:2.

One of the last nights in our rental house was a rainy one. We made cookies, turned on the blues and danced in the den as a family with the screen door wide open. I'm so thankful for sweet times of togetherness like that. The hurdles are always going to be present, for sure, but they certainly make the sweet times in life all the more beautiful!
