Unsung hero... (a post by Will)

Who do you think about when you hear the word "hero"?  Superman perhaps?  Maybe those who served our country bravely?  I would submit to you those do conform to the idea of a traditional hero . . . however, I have someone else in mind, my beautiful wife Mary Frances.

Tirelessly, she fights the sleep and sickness to do one of the most THE hardest job that I know.  Now,
you may be thinking - What is this job?  Is she a lawyer?  Surely, she must be in the medical profession.  Or perhaps she is a police woman.  NO.  She is a SAHM = Stay at Home Mom or Domestic Engineer if you prefer :)

Tonight, I was thinking of the word "glory".  It is a word so often misused on the baseball diamond or in a pool hall talking about the "glory days".  I would submit to you that it can only be understood as a "reflection" because that is where true glory lies. . . in the reflection of our Heavenly Father.  And there is no one that I know that exemplifies the "looking glass" better than my lovely Darling.  It is truly a beauty that shines from within her via our Father's glory.  Truth be told - as we were first dating, it was (and still is) the unmistakeable trait that drew (and still draws) me to my wife.  (It doesn't hurt that she is really good looking too. . .)

Now, at this point, you may be saying to yourself, "Well, that's all well and good and everything, but how does this make her a hero?"  I will answer that with this -

YOU try reflecting the Lord's unending glory while holding a hungry, crying (sweet) baby girl that has just thrown up all over you and is trying to put anything in her mouth she can get her hands on.  Just try it!  But I bet that you cannot do it with half one-iota of the woman that I am BLESSED to call my wife.  She outshines/out-reflects even the best mirror in showing love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness and self-control and true zeal for our Lord.

Her "role" as a wife and mother is not a job; its not a hobby; it is her full time ministry which is noble and does go against everything that society calls "heroic".  And her audience sphere of influence is not only Anna Lyn (though it certainly is).  Her mission field is wider-reaching than that!  By her ministry she is not only showing Anna Lyn what it means to be a Godly Woman (see Proverbs 31) - she flying directly in the face of many years of lies propagated by the (so called) "Women's Empowerment Movement".  And I couldn't be more proud of her.

So, my Darling Love, I know that these words do nothing to describe what you mean to me and our daughter, but I cannot imagine life without you.  I love you!

You will always be my beautiful Bride!

And the star in this little girl's eyes

My child, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your MOTHER; For they will be a graceful ornament on your head.
~ Proverbs 1:8-9
